Start of season

Discipline again rears its head, well the lack of it. First game of the season and i sent a player off for 2 cautions, both for dissent. The second was after hed been sustituted, will players ever learn?

Question 1 for the season. If a penalty kick has been ordered to be retaken, does the same player have to take the re-taken kick?

Teams still surprise me

Sunday i was fixtured for a local game between two sides who, shall we say " have their moments". Expecting a battle i started the game. To my surprise for ninty mins neither side made a bad challenge, abused each other, abused me or got out of hand. In fact it was a game where twenty three of us on the park had a great time. Shame that all Sunday Football isnt played in that spirit.

I was asked one question by the away skipper following a goal. From kick off second half a home player, played the ball, his team mate took a shot from the halfway line and scored. The away skipper questioned why the ball " had not travelled forward ?" He took my explaination quite well when i told him it only has to be played. It still prooves that players, try as they might, dont know the laws of the game, do they?

About the Blog

So heres the Blog, Ive started a blog for three reasons really. Firstly im interested in peoples opinions regarding the ill discipline in football, secondly to tell a few tales about incidents from games ( no names mentioned ). Thirdly, this is a big one for me, The Laws of the Game, how many people dont know them and yet the poor Ref gets crucified by them, TV Commentators get it wrong loads, ive emailed Chris Camara several times, without reply may i add, he gets it wrong plenty.
Players and The Laws, most players dont know them, Managers and Secretaries in general are a little in the dark and these are the people apart from FA observers who mark the poor Ref on his/her performance, i also think that dissent and abuse would be lessened if they were more up on The Laws and understood why the Ref did what he/she did.
So thats what the Blog is about, your views, observations, questions are welcome, il try to answer as soon as i can.

This is not an official FA/FIFA publication and the views here are probably not the views of those bodies.
